Meet Amiga
This
picture was taken when she first came from Auction. Amiga was named after Amigo. Amiga is believed to be approximately 33
years old. This picture was taken on the day she was rescued from the Fairbury Salebarn, last November. Wendy Brown of Lone
Oak Farm, went to this Auction. She stated before this little gal come thru the door, all the guys standing in the ring
all stood back and away from the door. Pretty soon, this little mare came walking thru the door, running into everyone and
everything. The guys that were in the ring were kicking and hitting her to get her to back away from them. The auctioneer
looked at Wendy and she offered $10 to get this poor girl out. The Auctioneer accepted her offer and she came to live
with us after this auction. This poor girl about jumped out of her skin when someone tried to touch her. It is also believed
she made it all the way from Ohio. With the patience and love we have for her, she has learned not to be so scared when getting
her hay and grain. Thru the love and patience everyone around her has shown her, she enjoys being brushed and the attention
she receives...She never has to live in fear again. However, she doesn't like her face to be touched......I will be updating
soon with a new picture of Amiga when the weather warms up and the woolies shed out. She truly is a Beautiful girl!! We Love
You Amiga!! UPDATE! 5/3/07- Amiga is coming around nicely, slowly, but considering what this girl has been thru. We are
thrilled for her. She enjoys being brushed out and talked to. Amiga is allowing me to hold and hug her
head and to kiss her on her forehead. She has her moments of jumpiness, especially to loud noises. Amiga has made
progress considering what she has been thru during her journey in life. We are working with her to let her know she can enjoy
her life, not fear life. CONGRATS TO YOU AMIGA!!! We love you and are proud of you and your progress.

Look At Our Beautiful Girl!! This is the most recent picture of her taken summer/fall
of 2007.
FOR THE LOVE OF A RESCUER, THIS IS OUR REWARD
Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could
be imagined. All the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But,
the animals that had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway
leading to Rainbow Bridge to watch.
It wasn't long before
an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the one's who had been there for
awhile, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in
great emotional pain, but with no sign of illness or injury. Unlike all the other animals waiting at the bridge, this animal
had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward the Rainbow Bridge he watched all
the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he would cross over the happier he would be.
But alas, as he approached the bridge his way was barred by an Angel who apologized, but told him he would not be able to
pass. Only the animals who were with their people could pass over the Rainbow Bridge.
With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before the bridge
and saw a group of animals like himself, also elderly and infirmed. They weren't playing but simply laying on the green
grass, forlornly staring out the pathway to the bridge. And so he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.
One of the newest arrivals at the bridge did not understand what he had just
witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for awhile to explain it to him. "You see, this poor animal
is a rescue. He was turned into rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur greying and his eyes clouding.
He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence.
Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across Rainbow Bridge."
The first animal thought about this for a moment and then asked, "So what
will happen now?" As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching
the bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, the whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light
and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of their life. "Watch and See." said the
second animal. A second group of animals from these waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. As each
bowed their head, the person offered a pat on the head and a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell in line
and followed her towards the Rainbow Bridge. They all crossed the bridge together. "What happened?" asked the first
animal. "That was a rescuer." Replied the second. "The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found
new homes because of her work. They will cross when their families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found
homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor
animals that they couldn't place on earth, across the Rainbow Bridge."........
