           MEET GRACIE

                                                 TWO HORSES

Just up the road from my home is a field with two horses in it. From a distance, each looks like every other horse. But if you stop your car, or are walking by, you will notice something quite amazing. Look into the eyes of one horse and it will disclose that he is blind. His owner has chosen not to have him put down, but has made a good home for him. This alone is amazing. If nearby and listening, you will hear the sound of a bell. Looking around for the source of the sound, you will see that it comes from the smaller horse in the field. Attached to her halter is a small bell. It lets her blind friend know where she is, so he can follow her. As you stand and watch these two friends, you'll see how she is always checking on him, and that he will listen for her bell and then slowly walk to where she is, trusting that she will not lead him  astray. When she returns to the shelter of the barn each evening, she stops occasionally and looks back, making sure her friend isn't too far behind to hear the bell. Like the owners of these two horses, God does not throw us away just because we are not perfect or because we have problems or challenges. He watches over us and even brings others into our lives to help us when we are in need. Sometimes we are the blind horse being guided by the little ringing bell of those who God places in our lives. Other times we are the guide horse, helping others see. Good friends are like this......You don't always see them, but you know they are always there. Please listen for my bell and I'll listen for yours.  "Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fight a battle".

May You Run In Greener Pastures Of Heaven My Beautiful Girl......

         REST IN PEACE GRACIE

Gracie came to us from Lin of EPONA Horse Rescue. Gracie was rescued by Lin from a Horse Auction with Slaughter buyers present.  Lin gave $15 at this auction for Gracie. As you can see, blind horses are Wonderful Horses.  Gracie was my first blind horse and 22 years old when I got her. She loved giving rides and put complete faith in her rider. She also  enjoyed her walks her walks and as you can see, walked alongside of me thru listening to me talk to her.  All that knew Gracie loved her. Gracie passed away last year to cancer. We Miss You Gracie and hope you are enjoying the Greener Pastures In Heaven......We Love You!!

Midnight, Our Beautiful Gentlemen!!....You have the most Loving Heart!!

MEET MIDNIGHT AND CAROLYN

Carolyn is Midnight's former owner and Oh how she loved him so and always will....Because her husbands has health problems, they moved to a smaller place and paid to board Midnight. When Midnight started going blind, the people that board Midnight told Carolyn he couldn't stay, no blind horses on the place Midnight was Carolyn's baby and she keeps in contact and visits Midnight. Midnight now resides with our family and is now the apple in our middle son, Justin, eyes.

                                                THE HEART OF A HORSE

When your day seems out of balance, And so many things go wrong...When people fight around you and the clock drags on so long...When most folks act like children, and fill you with remorse, Go out into your pasture...Wrap your arms around your horse. His gentle breath enfolds you, As he watches with those eyes. He may not have a PhD, But he is, Oh, so wise! His head rests on your shoulder...You embrace him good and tight; He puts your world in balance, and makes it seem alright. Your tears will soon stop flowing, The tension will be eased. The nonsense has been lifted, You are quiet and at peace. So when you need some balance from the stresses in your day... The best therapy you can seek...Is out there eating hay.

 MIDNIGHT AND JUSTIN

This is Midnight's first ride since going blind....This was taken in Early March 2007. Midnight and Justin have quite the special bond with each other. Congrats to the two of you! You look great together....We are So Very Proud of how well you work together!!

We Love You My Beautiful Girl! You Have Come A Long Way Sweetheart!!

                                              Meet Amiga

This picture was taken when she first came from Auction. Amiga was named after Amigo. Amiga is believed to be approximately 33 years old. This picture was taken on the day she was rescued from the Fairbury Salebarn, last November. Wendy Brown of Lone Oak Farm, went to this Auction. She stated before this little gal come thru the door, all the guys standing in the ring all stood back and away from the door. Pretty soon, this little mare came walking thru the door, running into everyone and everything. The guys that were in the ring were kicking and hitting her to get her to back away from them. The auctioneer looked at Wendy and she offered $10 to get this poor girl out. The Auctioneer accepted her offer and she came to live with us after this auction. This poor girl about jumped out of her skin when someone tried to touch her. It is also believed she made it all the way from Ohio. With the patience and love we have for her, she has learned not to be so scared when getting her hay and grain. Thru the love and patience everyone around her has shown her, she enjoys being brushed and the attention she receives...She never has to live in fear again. However, she doesn't like her face to be touched......I will be updating soon with a new picture of Amiga when the weather warms up and the woolies shed out. She truly is a Beautiful girl!! We Love You Amiga!! UPDATE! 5/3/07- Amiga is coming around nicely, slowly, but considering what this girl has been thru. We are thrilled for her. She enjoys being brushed out and talked to. Amiga is allowing me to hold and hug her head and to kiss her on her forehead. She has her moments of jumpiness, especially to loud noises. Amiga has made progress considering what she has been thru during her journey in life. We are working with her to let her know she can enjoy her life, not fear life. CONGRATS TO YOU AMIGA!!! We love you and are proud of you and your progress.

Look At Our Beautiful Girl!! This is the most recent picture of her taken summer/fall of 2007.

FOR THE LOVE OF A RESCUER, THIS IS OUR REWARD

Unlike most days at Rainbow Bridge, this day dawned cold and gray, damp as a swamp and as dismal as could be imagined. All the recent arrivals had no idea what to think, as they had never experienced a day like this before. But, the animals that had been waiting for their beloved people knew exactly what was going on and started to gather at the pathway leading to Rainbow Bridge to watch.

It wasn't long before an elderly animal came into view, head hung low and tail dragging. The other animals, the one's who had been there for awhile, knew what his story was right away, for they had seen this happen far too often. He approached slowly, obviously in great emotional pain, but with no sign of illness or injury. Unlike all the other animals waiting at the bridge, this animal had not been restored to youth and made healthy and vigorous again. As he walked toward the Rainbow Bridge he watched all the other animals watching him. He knew he was out of place here and the sooner he would cross over the happier he would be. But alas, as he approached the bridge his way was barred by an Angel who apologized, but told him he would not be able to pass. Only the animals who were with their people could pass over the Rainbow Bridge.

With no place else to turn to, the elderly animal turned towards the fields before the bridge and saw a group of animals like himself, also elderly and infirmed. They weren't playing but simply laying on the green grass, forlornly staring out the pathway to the bridge. And so he took his place among them, watching the pathway and waiting.

One of the newest arrivals at the bridge did not understand what he had just witnessed and asked one of the animals that had been there for awhile to explain it to him. "You see, this poor animal is a rescue. He was turned into rescue just as you see him now, an older animal with his fur greying and his eyes clouding. He never made it out of rescue and passed on with only the love of his rescuer to comfort him as he left his earthly existence. Because he had no family to give his love to, he has no one to escort him across Rainbow Bridge."

The first animal thought about this for a moment and then asked, "So what will happen now?" As he was about to receive his answer, the clouds suddenly parted and the gloom lifted. Approaching the bridge could be seen a single person and among the older animals, the whole group was suddenly bathed in a golden light and they were all young and healthy again, just as they were in the prime of their life. "Watch and See." said the second animal. A second group of animals from these waiting came to the pathway and bowed low as the person neared. As each bowed their head, the person offered a pat on the head and a scratch behind the ears. The newly restored animals fell in line and followed her towards the Rainbow Bridge. They all crossed the bridge together. "What happened?" asked the first animal. "That was a rescuer." Replied the second. "The animals you saw bowing in respect were those who found new homes because of her work. They will cross when their families arrive. Those you saw restored were those who never found homes. When a rescuer arrives, they are allowed to perform one final act of rescue. They are allowed to escort those poor animals that they couldn't place on earth, across the Rainbow Bridge."........
